It's sick what the world has done to Baghdad.


"Make it the enemy of peace," they shout.


"Make them feel degraded."


Congratulations, you have done just that.


Even those living outside of the sculptured city, feel a shame


That is not theirs. That never was theirs.


Iraq makes for a good story on the news.


Ratings shooting through the roof all over the world.


But not in Iraq.


The only thing shooting through their roofs is bombs and hand-held grenades.


But still, it makes for a good story.


Everyone tunes in.


Salam Pax was right, Politics are corrupt.


Everything's fair in love and war, isn't that the quote?


I'd hate to be George Bush's wife.


I'll fight for the poor souls in Iraq,


Though it is not my fight.


Sometimes we must stand up for what is just and right,


Not just for what is financially rewarding.


We forget because our lives are always about wealth,


Never about the more simple things.


But when war is upon your doorstep,


You'll remember the sunrise dancing through your window,


And the peace and quiet of no airplanes above.


We can't think it won't effect us.


We can't forget about it.


We can't pretend it isn't happening right now,


And most of all, we can't leave them to die alone.
