MNS – Maharashtra Navnirman Sangh. So are they also going to stop Bollywood from making movies in Hindi now? Can they dare move the film industry out of the state? Nay, they will not risk impact to the state revenue. They did a great job in driving hapless non-Maharashtrians seeking employment out of the state. Are they going to do the same to the non-Maharashtrians who are setting up businesses and industries in the state? Are they going to stop foreign banks, companies, etc. from opening offices and investing in the state? Can they dare stop all this and risk severe impact to state infrastructure, revenue, etc. What do you want to call the MNS now? Bunch of hypocrites, yes that is what they are.

Can they stop the non-Maharashtrian stuff that happens in the state every day? Can they stop the western fashion in the state? Can they stop Maharashrians from using foreign stuff like imported cars, appliances, and everything else that is not Marathi? Are they going to stop tourism?

What’s their political agenda then? To create ruckus, beat up people, and terrorize them in the name of Maharashtra? It is foolishness at the least to even mention their social service like ambulance, etc. in their defence because much better services than these are provided elsewhere by naxals, maoists, and other such outlawed and terror outfits.

MNS, you are an indian first and then a marathi. Imagine what will happen to you if you are kicked out of India.

What else can I call the Israeli army when captain Elie Isaacson of the Israeli Defense Forces says they had had major operational successes in Gaza? When I read the news here. seriously it first made me crack, and then wonder.

Barack Obama has become the first african-american president of the United States of America. This election signified a history in the making. America has come a long and painful way from its deep and dark history of racism and slavery. While the latter has been abolished, the former seems to have become a permanent denizen in the hearts and minds of the people. Why else would Obama be cheered and called as the first african-american president instead of simply an american president-elect? Why the racial address?

Centuries after attaining independence, America is yet to be freed. What it is, the beacon of freedom, equality, opportunity and liberty for all, is yet to be proved. Obama’s taking of highest office in the country has been one big step in the giant leap of breaking the barrier of racism.

No doubt, this election has knocked out the barrier of race. The barrier of religion is next.

I am watching the 2008 US elections quite closely and with great interest. Both candidates seem to be doing their best to win the elections although something in their campaigning really caught my attention. During their rallies in american states, rallying to win the american hearts, the candidates seem to be doing something what appears to be an anomaly. They are standing in front of the american citizens and to my amazement pledging their allegiance to Israel, a foreign country. They are proclaiming an oath to defend and secure not America, not its people but Israel. This proclamation of irrelevancy was simply beyond my belief. Why do the candidates running for US presidency have to take an oath to defend Israel? How does it matter? I asked few of my freinds and colleagues back when I was in the US how they felt about it. To my astonishment, they said they had never noticed it. We are casting our vote to choose a leader to lead and protect us, and does not it bother us when the candidates assert their allegiance to a foreign country?

Our country’s taken for a ride and we are worried about what happens to Joe the plumber and Jane the teacher? Excellent.
